Terms of use

Last updated October 24, 2026

The short version: Vota is for everyday disagreements between adults. Be honest, be kind, and don't post anything about anyone that they wouldn't want shared.

1. Who we are

Vota (getvota.com) is run by Ayman Zriek in Quebec, Canada. By using Vota you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use it.

2. Who can use Vota

You must be 18 or older. One person, one account.

3. What you post

You're responsible for what you write: your side of a case, your vote comments and your promises.

  • Use nicknames. Never post full names, addresses, workplaces, schools, phone numbers or social handles.
  • Only post about a disagreement you're actually part of, with a partner who agrees to take part.
  • No harassment, hate, threats, sexual content, spam or anything illegal.
  • Nothing involving minors as the subject of a dispute.

You keep ownership of what you write. You give Vota permission to store it and show it to the people you chose (the public feed, or people with your link) for as long as the case exists. A case is deleted 7 days after its voting closes.

4. Checks and moderation

Before a case goes live, it's checked by an automated system (an AI model) and sometimes by a person. Vote comments are checked too. We may hold back, send back, hide or remove anything that breaks these terms, and suspend accounts that do it repeatedly. Anyone can report a case or a comment, and block people they don’t want to see. There’s no tolerance for abusive content or users: we look at reports within 24 hours.

Automated checks make mistakes. If you think we got it wrong, email us.

5. Not advice, and not for danger

Votes are opinions from strangers or friends, not professional, legal or relationship advice. If anyone is afraid for their safety, Vota is the wrong place: get support or call emergency services.

6. Your account

You can delete your account at any time from your account page. We may close accounts that break these terms.

7. The service

Vota is provided as is. We work hard to keep it running and safe, but we can't promise it will always be available or error-free, and we aren't liable for what other people post or how they vote, to the extent the law allows.

To get things started, some of the first cases on Vota were written by the Vota team, based on situations people commonly argue about. The votes on them come from real people.

8. Changes

If these terms change in an important way, we'll ask you to agree again the next time you open Vota. These terms are governed by the laws of Quebec and Canada.
